FT Role Profile for Truck Driver

The Organization

FT Aggregates, is an Alberta-based business passionate about working with clients to meet their individual aggregate needs. Although our focus is building specially designed engineered products for commercial aggregate. We also welcome contractors and home owners at our landscape yard in Camrose.  During winter months we do snow removal in Camrose as well as aggregate hauling.

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Operations and Logistics Officer, the Truck Driver manages specialized work efficiently, with confidence and competence. The position requires above average attention to details, concern for the correctness of work, and strong commitment to completing tasks on time. A somewhat faster-than-average pace will be the norm for this position and detailed, specialized work is the major focus. The position will provide security in a stable work environment, allowing the person to plan for, focus on and complete tasks on hand.

The ideal candidate for this position will take work seriously, have a strong sense of duty, and will be disciplined. They will serve customers quickly, efficiently and professionally, and understand how operational efficiency, and their role in it, contributes to the overall customer experience.

The Key Accountability Areas

Driving Operations: The role will deliver orders to customers, acting as a positive representative of FT Aggregates. The Truck Driver will perform daily preventative maintenance, record an inspection on vehicles to include fuelling, cleaning, tire/light inspection, checking and adding fluids. The role will perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and serve customers quickly, efficiently and professionally with skill and flawless manners.

Safety Management: The role will ensure that standards for safe working conditions are observed and that there is proper use of required personal protective equipment at all times. The role must perform tasks in a manner that will not jeopardize own/others safety.

Quality and Service Excellence: The Truck Driver will role model a commitment to quality work and service, with a focus on operational excellence. The role will understand how operational efficiency contributes to the overall customer experience.

Compliance & Communication: The role will ensure communication, respect, and compliance, with all organizational policies, procedures, Code of Conduct, and values, as well as, applicable external legislation and regulations. It will report any issues arising through the course of regular activities and communicate clearly, consistently and accurately.

The Working Conditions

  • Primarily physical work involving:
    • Agility including the ability to regularly twist and turn
    • Regularly lifting up to 50 lbs
    • Working in both cold and hot temperatures, season dependent
  • Camrose and Edmonton area are the primary work zones.
  • Availability to work a variable schedule, including some weekends. Available to work overtime as required.

Key Functional, Technical and Industrial Competencies:

  • 3 years’ experience as a gravel/aggregate truck driver is preferred but not required
  • Valid Class 1A driver’s license. Air brake endorsement (Z) and defensive driving course preferred.
  • Strong attitude towards equipment and work space cleanliness.
